Welcome... From the desk of Dr. A J DelaHoussaye A. J. dela Houssaye, M.D., known as "Dr. D" to his patients, is the medical director of SEECA and specializes in ReZoom Cataract Surgery. In 1997, Dr. D was the first resident at Ochsner to perform Clear Cornea Cataract Surgery, the advanced technique used during the ReZoom Cataract Procedure. Since that time, Dr. D has made numerous improvements in the technique, making him one of the most proficient cataract surgeons in the world. Dr. D invented and patented the "Laser Guided True Scan", a device that dramatically improves the calculated lens power in ReZoom Cataract Surgery. Dr. D invented and copyrighted a computerized medical software program called SEECA EMR. This technology increases Dr. D's access to valuable information in the operating room, which improves the safety of the ReZoom Cataract Procedure. Dr. D earned a Bachelors Degree from Louisiana State University while on the Chancellor's Scholarship and attended Harvard. He then attended LSU Medical School on a Board of Supervisors Scholarship and graduated with Honors. Dr. D's research publications have appeared in "Life Science Journal" and he won the LSU Research Award. Dr. D completed a 4-year Ophthalmology residency program at Ochsner in New Orleans where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. D is a Board Certified Surgeon in Ophthalmology and is a member of numerous medical societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the Louisiana State Medical Society. In 2004, Dr. D was named Patriotic Citizen of the year for donating a total of over $100,000 in free eye care to local Veterans and their families. In 2005, Consumer's Research Council of America named Dr. D as one of "America's Top Ophthalmologists".
